I am an ardent believer in advocacy for a more equitable world, and I am involved in movements associated with Neurodiversity acceptance and advocacy, the Body Positivity Movement including gender-affirming access to services and civil rights, LGBTQ+ visibility and advocacy, and am particularly passionate about efforts Universal Healthcare and Healthcare Equity.
My mode of practice is based on holistic principles in that if one part of us is hurting, it is likely other parts of us are too. People are not one monolithic identity and acknowledging and accepting ourselves for who we are is key to seeing all the facets of what makes us our amazing selves. Through a client centered approach, I strive to encourage clients to explore and accept themselves by guiding reflection on how nature and nurture might have led them to where they are now. Together we can collaborate on addressing what has brought you to the therapeutic environment through methods such as:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
-
Compassion focused and strength-based reframing of cognitive and emotional responses
-
Psycho education on how trauma and cognitive differences in an un-affirming world can affect the body and mind
-
Systems Theory application
-
Role Modeling/ Role-Playing scenarios and areas of conflict
-
Educating on Stages of Change through Motivational Interviewing
All bodies and beings are inherently worthy of love, respect, and existence; yourself included.
